Water Life
Cabbage Tree Bay, Sydney Australia
This Photo was taken on a Sony A7IV
Whilst exploring the cold water wonders just off the bustling city of Sydney lays a world below the waves teeming with life. Immersed within the frigid embrace of the Australian waters, I find myself gasping as the ocean strips away my warmth. I descend into a realm unknown, a world teeming with creatures and colours surrounding me in a vivid dance of emerald, rose and marigold hues. As I surrender to the cold and let my eyes adjust to this world below the waves I find myself gliding next to a meter-long Port Jackson Shark. His enchanting patterns mesmerise my gaze and I watched as he moved to the rhythm of the waves. In this photo I wanted to capture this very moment, the beautiful markings on the shark's back, complemented by the shapes and colours painted in the rocks below. To take this photo I used underwater strobes to help add more contrast between the subject matter and its surroundings. I used the settings: 1/200, ISO 400, f/18
