The crowded train journey that normally takes between 2-3 hours took 14 hours, with many standing in the carriages for the duration. This morning shelling was reported on the outskirts of the city, the first in the west of the country. Over two million people fled Ukraine, mostly through borders with Poland, after Russian invaded Ukraine on 24 February.
