Gloucester Rugby Club

As an official photographer on the royal rota, I had one particular unique opportunity to capture some memorable moments. In this particular instance, I had the chance to witness a significant handover of a rugby ball to Rob Wainwright, with HRH The Princess Royal present at Gloucester Rugby Club. This handover marked the beginning of a remarkable journey undertaken by cyclists, famous names including Rob Wainwright, Mark Beaumont, Carl Hogg, and Mick Tindall. Their mission was to transport the rugby ball from Gloucester RFC to Cardiff Stadium as part of the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation fundraising campaign. The presence of HRH The Princess Royal added a touch of royal significance to the event. Her visit to Gloucester Rugby Club demonstrated her support for the charitable cause and her interest in the world of rugby. Being granted free roam of the event allowed me to exercise my creativity as a photographer. One particular shot I captured was through someone's arm, adding a unique and artistic perspective to the photograph. By having the opportunity to document this special moment, I contributed to preserving the memory of an important event for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation. My photographs will serve as a visual record of the occasion, capturing the essence and excitement of the rugby ball handover and the involvement of HRH The Princess Royal.
