Canon EOS-1D X Mark II / Canon EF 500mm f/4 L IS USM
Taken in the UK, Skomer Island. This bird has become a very well-known species, and trying to capture something different was no easy task. The competition was very high, and creativity was crucial when photographing these birds. Among the 42,000 puffins, I managed to find an individual who was isolated from the rest. I decided to approach it, lay down, and observe it with my camera. As I was watching it, the puffin started preening its plumage. I had all the camera settings ready in case something would happen, and so it did. I put my eye through the viewfinder and began clicking the shutter. As the shots were being taken, the posture and angle of the bird were gradually changing, displaying its beautiful plumage.
