Pets & Domesticated Animals
At Home, Cheshire, England
Nikon D750, 35mm 1.8
My daughter has grown up with a few different animals and pets in our little house in the UK. She has two dogs and a fish, but her best friend was Teddy. Teddy was our Tortoise. He was super speedy when he wanted to be, but mostly he liked to sit with my daughter and it often looked like he was trying to chat to her as she babbled away to him. When she got a bit older she was allowed to take him out of his enclosure with parental supervision. On this day she had taken him out by herself. I had my camera to hand as I came back in the living room and was able to take some photos before she moved him back into his enclosure. The light from the door streaming in and the window bringing the natural light. We were in Lockdown at the time and he was the only other person she could talk too. Sadly at the end of last year he passed away. We decided not to get another Tortoise and so this photo means so much to me, that I was able to capture their friendship. Taken at home in the Living Room. Settings: F2.2, 1/250 sec, iso 1000.
