Walcott, Norfolk
Canon EOS 5DmkIV, Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM
After a morning photographing grey seals on the Norfolk coast, I headed further north to the small village of Walcott because I knew the turnstones would be scampering along the sea defences feeding on flies and the sunflower seeds that people scatter on the wall for them. As I photographed the turnstones, a feral pigeon dropped into the frame and began proudly strutting through the crowd of turnstones. The short winter days meant it was getting dark quickly, so I tried to include the wider scene that included the tail lights of the passing vehicles, and I loved how the pigeon's red legs seemed to compliment the bright lights of the passing tractor.
