Pademba Road, Freetown, Sierra Leone
Nikon D750, Nikon 14mm 1.8 lens
This man was relaxing in a garage on the edge of a community of disabled people in Freetown. Those with disabilities find it almost impossible to get work in Sierra Leone and are largely ostracized from regular society. A group of people with different physical disabilities live in an abandoned government building next to a prison in the capital. The conditions are grim but at least this way they can support one another. This man was relaxing in a garage next to the community. Despite his difficult situation he laughed, chatted and thoroughly enjoyed being photographed. I loved the rusty colours and old car parts that frame him.
