Perched delicately on a leaf, this reticulated glass frog reveals its translucent skin. Native to Central and South American rainforests, its see-through underside allows a view of internal organs. These frogs are nocturnal, mostly active at night, and rely on camouflage to avoid predators. Their bright green dorsal skin blends perfectly with the surrounding foliage. During the breeding season, males call from leaves above streams to attract females. Eggs are laid on leaves overhanging water, and tadpoles drop into the stream upon hatching. A fascinating example of nature’s ingenuity in adaptation and survival.
