Metamorfosi, Greece
OM-1, 90mm macro lens, tripod
I visited Metamorfosi in Northern Greece in July 2025, when Ash Cicadas were emerging from the ground in their thousands and creating a continuous chatter in the trees. I saw many of these exoskeletons, or exuvia, from which they emerge into the adult form, attached to plant stalks. This one was shot backlit just after sunset, with a golden glow still filling the western sky. I focus bracketed it to bring out all the wonderful details in this perfect translucent empty shell.
