Stewardess April is enveloped in a cascade of vibrant colours at a lantern shop in Hoi An, a historic town in Vietnam. As dusk settles, the town transforms under the glow of its celebrated lantern culture, creating a magical interplay of light and shadow. April’s batik uniform, adorned with delicate floral motifs, resonates with the intricate patterns of the surrounding lanterns, harmonising human presence with craft and tradition. Captured with a long exposure, her slight blur and the surrounding light trails evoke motion and transience, echoing the energy of travel itself. Captured in August 2024 for the Time for Da Nang campaign with Malaysia Airlines, the photograph celebrates the launch of their new route to this exotic South East Asian destination. This photograph was captured kneeling down, placing the subject centre, and twisting the camera to create the trail of light.
