The Black-tufted marmoset (Callithrix penicillata) is a species of New World monkey that lives primarily in the Neotropical gallery forests of the Brazilian Central Plateau. This family paid us a visit on the first day of our 8 days in the Atlantic forest of Brasil. This was the young shy one peeping from behind the Lodge gate. They used the lodge gate to cross over from one side to another. The mother crossed over while this young one was dithering with one eye on me. They are quite small about the size of a kitten. Just after previewing a shot as I was looking through the viewfinder I found the little one peeping to check what I was doing. I quickly rattle a few shots, giving me this fantastic image.
