Water Life
Lembeh Strait, North Sulawesi, Indonesia
Sony A1 camera. Sony FE 90mm F2.8 macro G OSS lens. Nauticam underwater housing. 1 x Backscatter Mini-Flash and snoot.
This image captures the brilliant lemon yellow bodies, grumpy expressions and emerald eyes of two Yellow Pygmy Gobies. This small fish frequently inhabits discarded bottles on the seabed. This particular shot was taken in the Lembeh Strait, an area where there is unfortunately a lot of waste discarded into the water. At least these creatures are able to make use of it. To isolate the fish and bottle from the unattractive, sandy, silty, seabed I used a snoot on my flash light. I held the snoot in my hand in order to get the precise angle I wanted for the light beam. 1/400th, f14, ISO 100.
