Water Life
Marsa Alam, Egypt

When diving it's easy to miss moments, sometimes we are so wrapped up with getting to the 'main event' that we just miss the magic. This is marsa shagra jetty in Egypt, a jetty I have been photographing now for over 13 years. The jetty is usually just the pitstop for divers to board ribs or enter the dive site and put their fins on from, but underneath offers a glimpse in to life and loss underwater. Every year something new unfolds beneath this structure, offering a litany of photographic opportunities if we take the time to sit and watch. On this occasion the lionfish were in the middle of hunting, they were manoeuvring a shoal of silversides in to strike-able positions beneath an unawares rib driver just feet away on the dock above. Two different worlds, so close and yet so far apart.
