Self Portrait
Mauchline, UK
Sony A7rii + Samyang AF 24mm f1.8
An image that I ummed and ahhed about whether to enter into the competition this year, mainly due to myself being very self conscious about myself and how over people view me. But due to the image being about mental health and mental health awareness, I feel it needs to be shared and I will try and work on my anxieties about sharing it. As a man who has suffered from mental health problems for probably my entire life, and only in the past couple of years finally starting to do something about getting the help I need for it. This image represents how I feel within my brain when I start coming up against problems that I cannot get out of or see a way to resolve, and I don't know who to turn and talk to. During these periods I feel very fragile, and just want to curl up and hope everything goes away on its own accord. What I hope by putting this image out there, is at least one person realises they are never alone. There is always someone there to speak to regarding any and every problem we may have.
