The cult of beauty explores what ageing means and the significant impact of societal beauty norms on women's self-perception. This photograph is part of a series that examines how industries like glossy magazines and cosmetic chains influence appearance-related concerns. Today, attending a public event without full glamour makeup is seen as bold, and few dare to show themselves on social media without a filter. Beauty pressure is constant, as if every second brings us closer to the inevitable loss of youth, equating a woman's value to her appearance. Through this work, my goal is to challenge the patriarchal and capitalist pressures and champion the empowerment of women, envisioning a liberated future that fosters genuine self-expression and acceptance, free from outdated societal expectations. An emancipation of the self, challenging norms and reimagining futures.
