This is 1 image from a series of 3 for a project called Action Man Anxiety. “Action Man Anxiety" is a personal project that focuses on male suicide. In the UK three quarters of all suicides are men and suicide is the leading cause of death in men under 50 years. Action Man is synonymous with portraying strength and ultimate masculinity, a stereotype that was installed into most young boys who played with the toy. Men are notoriously bad at showing or sharing emotion and “Action Man Anxiety” explores that even the strongest of men can feel Anxious, Alone or Afraid. Emotions that are totally normal and men should not feel the need to bottle up. I shot this Action Man portrait as if it was a real human sitter I then slightly altered the expression on the doll to portray a feeling of worry and anxiety. Shot in my studio with a single light with reflector just above the camera, a second light then lit the background. Setting were - ISO64 - Aperture F11 - shutter 1/200th
