Description

17th April 2024. During a rally in Parliament Square, a young girl grins beneath a large Palestinian flag. The girl and her younger sister had been running up and down beneath the giant flag being carried by demonstrators. Crouching underneath it myself, I waited for her to turn and run back towards me. Seeing the camera, she paused and gave a big cheesy grin. I was struck by the innocence of her fun. While her parents and other adults were sombrely standing outside Parliament to call for change, these children were playing games beneath the flag as if it were a parachute in a school playground.
