Water Life
Atlantic Ocean, Jupiter, Florida, USA.

Taken in about 80 feet of water in the Atlantic Ocean near Jupiter, Florida, this image shows a Goliath Grouper (about 2 metres long) swimming alongside a shipwreck. The large Grouper is flanked by hundreds of small, silvery bait fish swimming towards the camera in hypnotic shape formations. In August and September each year, Goliath Grouper aggregate in this area to spawn. While Goliath Groupers are a fairly common sight in this area, being able to capture them surrounded by so many fish is not common and typically only happens during spawning season. The key challenge here was to make sure the silvery fish were not overexposed, and this was accomplished by reducing strobe power. 1/200th at f/8.0, ISO 500.
