Newhaven Harbour, East Sussex
Canon EOS 7D Mark II, EF 75 - 300mm lens
Taken at Newhaven, East Sussex as Storm Eunice hit our shores. These were the strongest winds I’d ever encountered, with speeds up to 122mph recorded at nearby Isle of Wight. Just standing up was enough of a challenge, I was nearly blown clean off my feet on a number of occasions. On top of all this, there was the constant sea spray to contend with, so keeping the lens clean proved very tricky. I braved the beach for a while and my patience was rewarded when the sun briefly broke through the clouds to create this wonderful contrast. Shortly after, I retreated to the bank at the rear of the beach to get my breath back and gather my senses. Canon EOS 7D Mark II, EF 75 - 300mm lens @200mm, 1/1250th sec, f11, ISO 200
