Description

This photo was achieved with multi-flash trained on a banana flower that had been sprinkled with sugar water. I had to stand in almost complete darkness waiting for the silhouette of a bat to appear. I then had mere seconds to take the photo before the bat would move on. It took a long time to get the settings right, as I was working with fixed focus and challenging circumstances in an unfamiliar environment. Finally, I found the perfect settings and timing to capture the exact moment you see here.
