This image, much like a substantial body of my work, embodies an ever-evolving grapple with the femme condition. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, my journey has been shaped by living within a predominantly patriarchal order in my hometown of Varna, Bulgaria, and now, as part of a queer artist community in London. I often find myself confronting the stakes of existing as my perceived gender. Antagonized in my constructive crusade by the Dionysian instinct to find freedom in subjugation, I instead found peace in the in-between. Thus, I have come to understand that grand emotions, whether it be despair, or joy, our curiosity, or fear, are empty without a callback to the mundane. It is within these ordinary moments that we uncover pockets of absolute stillness and truth.
