Description

A flaming Clavie which is a barrel full of staves is carried around Highland town Burghead from Granary street to be lit at Brander street to celebrate the new year. Burning the Clavie has been celebrated since 400AD, the date 11th January dates back to the 1750's, when the Julian calendar was reformed in Britain.
