Aldabra Atoll, Seychelles
Sony A7RIII
A giant tortoise sleeps in front of the Seychelles flag on Aldabra atoll. The UNESCO World Heritage site of Aldabra is the most westerly of the Seychelles islands, and is home to the world's largest population of giant tortoises. Hunted to extinction throughout the western Indian Ocean, Aldabra's remote location and harsh terrain meant the population survived and today there are over 100,000 Aldabrachelys gigantea roaming free across the atoll.
