Taken at one of the many protest which took place across the world against the Russian invasion of Ukraine. One of my aims that day was to capture the sense of pride and belief in the sovereignty of Ukraine. To show their pride and identity many chose to bring the Ukraine flag to the protests or to wear its colours, blue and yellow. It is these colours which are a symbol of pride and an identity of citizenship to so many of the Ukrainian people. It creates a sense of belonging such that all citizens are committed to contribute meaningfully to its development, democracy and freedom. Capturing the colours of the people was an important way to demonstrate the defence of Ukraine against their enemies who wish to strip them of their identity by turn blue and yellow into white, blue and red.
