Description

This is my self-portrait taken at the location of my sexual assault, 8 years after it happened. It captures my story not many know, it captures my voice not many wanted to listen to, it captures me ending a chapter of my life that haunted me for 8 years, but this is me finally regaining control of my life. The location is in Wendover (my hometown) and on my old daily dog walk path which I came to avoid due to the triggering fear associated with it. In returning to the location it has allowed me as a victim of sexual assault to transcend into a victor. I no longer live in fear or shame. This is me reviving my voice, this is me regaining my power, this is me standing fearlessly powerful in a location that once haunted me, this is me telling my story.
