Description

Crossing the Mara River can be a deadly business, and on this occasion, many tens of Blue Wildebeest had perished under the hooves of the stampeding herd. The following day, Spotted Hyena congregated to feed on the carcasses, creating a very macabre picture. I framed this image to contrast the relative serenity of the sunlit Mara plain, above the grim scenes in the valley below. Settings: 1/800 sec @ f5.6, ISO 640
