Cage The Elephant performing live at Victoria Warehouse, Manchester on their Social Cues UK Tour in February 2020. Titled 'Ready To Let Go' after one of the bands most popular songs. This was the last gig I went to and photographed before COVID-19 put a hold on concerts and large events for the foreseeable future. Cage The Elephant are one of the most energetic bands of the last decade; lead singer Matt Shultz does not stop moving whilst on stage, so this picture in particular took a certain level of skill to capture. It was taken at ISO 1000, f5 and with a shutter speed of 1/100; in concert photography it is often difficult to get 'the shot', due to lighting, moving subjects and limited time. Generally at larger capacity venues, where there is a photography pit between the crowd and stage, photographers are allocated the first three songs only. This means there are less than 10 minutes to capture the shots you need for assignment, it's often a very tough job with a quick turnaround! The bright orange lighting and lens flares from using a four point star filter in this photograph add dimension to the live performance given by Shultz. As events are currently cancelled until 2021 all that now remain are photographs to tell the stories! This image reminds me of the energy and passion put into a live performance and how much fans can engage with their favourite bands and artists during concerts, something that now feels so distant in our current circumstances. *This concert was photographed as part of a live review for a publication, however this shot was not included in the review. It has only ever been published on my Instagram account and for personal promotion.*
