Part of Antarctica that you don't always see on the documentaries. These prehistoric birds are Giant Petrels and they are the top predators and scavengers. During the spring beaches are covered in testosterone filled elephant seals and fur seals who have brutal and sometimes deadly battles for territories. When the wounded fall thats when the real carnage begins as the Giant Petrels arrive fighting for a place at the carcass. The noises that accompany these fights are equally as impressive. If you are able to outcompete the other Giant Petrels there is no time for manors and it rapidly becomes a messy affair. Its at this point, when they are covered in blood that you get to see the real beauty of their blue eyes
