Description

Despite becoming increasingly popular, tattoos have always carried a stigma and are often seen as synonymous with crime and misconduct. Sammy faces these judgements with every person he meets but ensures they walk away with their perspective altered. With tattoos like ‘gentle’ and ‘angelic’ oppose to tear drops and barbed wire - Sammy’s tattoos are unlike any I have ever seen before and when paired with his smart appearance and well spoken dialect creates an enigmatic character that I was desperate to photograph. I used a Pro Mist filter to add an ethereal glow to the highlights as I wanted to try and communicate his innocence - in turn helping to combat the stigma behind tattoos.
