Description

Colour macro photograph showing soap bubble structures. Historically, artists have incorporated bubbles into their work to represent and symbolise the unexpected loss of something cherished or someone loved. Bubbles are also important subjects for scientific research because of their relationship with minimal surfaces - bubbles (and soap films) always want to optimise space using the least amount of energy. I've been researching soap bubbles and films in art and science and photographing them for the last 10 years. They never cease to amaze me with their mesmerising and ever-changing colour spectrums and intriguing structure formations depending on time and situation. They're great subjects to work with despite being temperamental and an obvious challenge. Cable release to card, 1/50th, f/10, ISO 800
