Shot on film. Studio flash. Loubie-Lou is an Art Direction and Photography Duo. We develop seeds of our ideas into reality, and then art direct, style, set build and photograph our vision. 'Masquerade' is part of a series that explores storytelling through a single image. The common thread through the series is that there is always a character within the image who doesn't quite fit in, and is on the inside looking out. We made the decision to use actors and performers rather than model,s as wanted a strong performance from each character. It was during this series that it was also important to us that all that was seen in the final image actually happened - it was one shot with everyone photographed in position at the same time. 'Masquerade' was a large scale production on a zero budget - as a duo we begged and borrowed the costumes, styled them, cast the models, and art directed the shoot. We were lucky enough to have an amazing team of theatrical make-up artists on board, who really brought our vision to life.
