Description

Staying on Skokholm, off the coast of Pembrokeshire, a last minute opportunity to visit nearby Grassholm arose. I decided it was worth braving the effects of seasickness to witness the thousands of gannets that nest on the island. As the speedboat rose and fell, I took in the scene - it was truly an environment that belonged to the birds, as they flew, dove and rested around me. Having watched the gannets from sea for a short time, the boat set off back to land, leaving the birds and the setting sun behind us. It had been an amazing sight, and smell!
