Colour macro photograph of a flowing soap film showing light interference colours and patterning. Soap films are important subjects for scientific research because of their relationship with minimal surfaces, soap films (and bubbles) continually strive to optimise space using the least amount of energy. The light interference colours and patterns change with time because the liquid film drains, due to gravity. I've been researching soap films and bubbles in art and science and photographing them for the last 10 years. They never cease to amaze me with their mesmerising and ever-changing colour spectrums and intriguing structure formations, depending on time and situation. They're great subjects to work with despite being temperamental and an obvious challenge. Tethered, 1/160th sec, f/22, ISO 640
