Land Animal
In the grounds of Garden Cottage adjacent to the Red Lion Barracks in Green Mountain National Park, Ascension Island int eh South Atlantic
Canon 7d and Canon 100mm f2.8 macro
The Ascension Island land crabs aren't quite endemic being found on two or three other islands but they aren't exactly abundant on a global scale either. They are filled with charisma and, for a crustacean, bloated with personality. I spent a long while trying to get a good shot of them, and managed several in the end, but for me this one stands out for the colours, the symmetry of the crabs expressive face and the rustic door it's stood in front of. Taken at f5.6 and 1/200.
