This was my first time meeting little Max, but the third time I’ve worked with his humans. His mum and dad have a bit of a habit of rescuing all sorts of dogs, and they’ve built up quite the collection over the years! They joked that every time they adopt a new one, they come back for another session… and while that may be a joke, it’s definitely becoming a running theme — one I’m incredibly grateful for. Having clients return time and time again to photograph their ever-growing furry family tells me I must be doing something right! Max was so much fun to shoot too. His mum does doggy Pilates with him, so he’s incredibly agile and well-balanced — perching him on a rock in front of the reservoir was absolutely no problem! You probably wouldn’t guess from this portrait that he was a total jack-in-the-box who didn’t sit still for more than half a second… but that’s one of the little bits of magic I bring to my sessions. I make dogs look like seasoned professional models — when in reality, they’re just being their joyful, wiggly selves.
