It was a cold & windy morning in Amboseli & the change in the weather seemed to impact the behaviour of the elephants. I hadn't taken a single image when we spotted a small family of elephants in the distance. The Matriarch was leading the family away from us, so my guide positioned our vehicle ahead of them & we waited for them. As I was using a specially modified photography vehicle I was able to have my camera almost on the ground & used the back of the camera to frame the elephants. The Matriarch & her calf were slightly ahead of the rest of the group & when they stopped I was able to get a series of images. I was laying down on the mattress barely moving, only shifting the camera & focus length to get the right framing. However, it is this image where their poses are almost synchronized & Kilimanjaro is framed between them that I think is the strongest.
