A re-appropriation of model railway animals (1/87 scale). A couple of years ago I spent some time shooting a series of miniature artworks that focused on the grim subject matter of climate change. Several images featured tiny penguins, polar bears and giraffes and this is one of my favourite images from the series. I placed the cress on some glitter card and used a piece of orange card as the backdrop (which really came alive once illuminated). I enjoy the fact that this image initially feels rather playful, but the thin veil of humour quickly evaporates delivering a more serious message which is then emphasised by the title of the work. Camera settings: ISO 100 - f/7.1 - 1/25sec - Lit using a small Viltrox light panel.
