This portrait explores the tension between softness and strength. The corsetry and lace neckpiece, designed by Valkyrie Corsets - and worn by Leonie - were styled almost like armour, contrasted with the delicacy of feathers caught in motion. Glossy, sculptural beauty by my long-time collaborator Amelia Richmond Knight amplifies the subject’s presence, creating an image that is part beauty editorial, part fashion fantasy. The concept was to play with visual contradictions: fragility and resilience, delicacy and power, calm and intensity, all held in one frame. My work often draws from fashion and beauty codes to build portraits that feel dreamlike yet commanding. In this piece, I wanted to strip the scene back to essentials, a single colour palette, a few symbolic textures - and use them to amplify the subject’s strength. he feathers are not decoration but disruption, symbols of fragility made powerful in motion. The result is a fashion portrait that balances elegance with defiance, shaped through the artistry of Valkyrie Corsets and Amelia Richmond Knight. Lot's of the feathers are included from a large burst of images as Mark Reyes (assistant) poured them from high above.
