Port Lockroy, Antarctica
Canon R5II, RF600mm
Lovingly known as the "Penguin Post Office" - Port Lockroy is not just famous for its history but because of the colony of Gentoo penguins that surround its doors on Goudier island. A place that many visit to get their passport stamped, whilst learning in the living museum and buying souvenirs in the gift shop! You can even send postcards home from here! We were on the boat and due to weather, unable to land, so I had moments to try to capture the image I had in my head, all whilst hand holding my lens, standing outside in the freezing cold, and the boat was moving past! I was hoping this little penguin would turn his head, as though he wanted to go inside the post office building and when he did, I knew I had the shot I had envisioned! Settings: 1/4000, F6.3, ISO800
