London, Canon 6D mark ii with a 28mm lens, F5.6 1/125 ISO 2500, Intentions: To draw focus to the subtler details on my mother's skin. Caption: The unmissable scar that stretches across her forearm makes the plaster on her upper arm seem redundant. As she narrates the procedure, I notice the remnants of her false nails — bitten off in the hospital in a desperate attempt to prepare for surgery. The bruise, still forming, appears almost delicate against her skin. Her wedding band, almost hidden under the glove, rings true to the statement "In sickness and in health"' like never before.
