Salisbury Cathedral
Sony RX100iv, Panosaurus 2
This is a 360 degree panorama constructed from multiple overlapping shots, the source images were taken with a Sony RX100iv compact camera mounted on a Panosaurus 2 tripod head, stitched together and edited using PTGui. It shows the rich colours, intricate woodwork and vaulted ceilings of the complex architecture visible from the quire section of Salisbury cathedral. The building was busy with tourists and required additional photos to be able to construct sections of the image using the gaps between people as they moved through the space. My aim with this piece was to offer an unconventional, immersive viewing experience that reflects the cathedral's scale and historical significance, which dates back to its construction between 1220 and 1258. I feel this technique successfully captures the magnificent grandeur and spiritual weight of this iconic building.
