Water Life
Taken near Koon Island, between the Ceram and Banda Seas in Indonesia.
Sony A1 camera. Sony FE 50mm F2.8 macro lens. Nauticam underwater housing. 2 x Retra flash lights.
This pastel image shows a shy Pink Anemonefish hiding in the depths of its host. By using a slow shutter speed, I was able to illustrate the movement of the anemone’s tentacles and create this softer, pastel-like composition. The use of strobe light and rear-curtain sync allowed me to "freeze" the motion of the fish to keep it sharp. The positioning of the fish with just one eye showing adds a "cuteness" factor to the composition. To create the composition I wanted I switched the camera into cropped-sensor mode to get closer to the fish. 1/6th, f16, ISO 100.
