Description

The Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Funchal, and the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Cabo Girão, celebrate the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima with a torchlight procession on May 12 each year. I was watching various street vendors but this man caught my eye. There was so much smoke as he was cooking countless chickens on this open flamed griddle. He would often completely disappear in this cloud. It was a challenge to capture this image at night, with only a spot light illuminating him from behind.
