My dad was in the RAF in WW2 and I was brought up on tales of his exploits, and family visits to air shows. I have always loved seeing WW2 aircraft, so when I heard about the project to restore Avro Lancaster NX611 'Just Jane' to flight condition, and the fact that LAHC and Timeline Events run photography evenings to raise funds, I jumped at the chance to book a visit. We were exceptionally lucky with the most amazing clear sky October evening, which was further enhanced by the lighting, the smoke effects and the amazing team of reenactors. The combination of low light (even with the spotlights) and movement (of the smoke and the reenactors) was challenging, though they were very good at standing still for long exposures! This particular shot was a 4 second exposure at f13 (to ensure both the plane and the stars were in focus) but still required an ISO of 12,800. As such, the final image was denoised in Lightroom Classic before other edits were applied - including highlight and shadow adjustment, saturation, white balance and clarity.
