Description

The New Forest Hounds hunt meet at Vereley, near Ringwood in the New Forest, Hampshire. Indiana Austin-Nicholls age 4 on Shetland pony called Cookie Crumbles age 10, she was too young to take part in the ride so was observing it with some others on horses. The New Forest Hounds have been hunting with bloodhounds since 2022. The hounds hunt the “clean boot” which means they follow the completely natural scent of a human runner, not a dragged artificial sent. If the pack come across a fox or any other animal they ignore it as they are trained to just follow the scent of human runners. The runners will spend a good 30-minutes with the pack before they set off to pick up their scent. There are currently just thirteen Bloodhound packs in the UK.
