The Baltic, Newcastle
Canon 5D MkIV, Canon EF 16-35mm lens. ISO 800 1/15sec, 16mm
At the end of a day of exploring Newcastle and with the drizzle continuing the iconic Baltic offered the potential for another image. The metal pavement inserts direct your gaze towards the Baltic entrance and building. Their polished surfaces enhanced by the wet weather provided a strong foreground element. The addition of the grate in the very front helps create, in my imagination, a very stylised winged creature, a phoenix perhaps, symbolising the transformation of a former flour mill into the thriving arts centre it is today.
