Description

Inspired by the book “the body keeps the score” I took this self portrait in studio and then used burning, embroidery and a mirror to complete this piece. The burning over my brain is representative of the damage caused by trauma, specifically emotional trauma. The mirror visible through the burnt hole is there for both literal and figurative self reflection. The multiple threads symbolise all the stresses and pressures of everyday life that can just become too much, especially when you are living with unresolved trauma.
