After a long day's hike in the Cairngorms, I was packing my gear into the boot of my car in the Sugarbowl car park when out of the corner of my eye I noticed some movement in the forest behind me. Sensing I wasn’t alone I quickly grabbed my gear bag back out the boot. The next ten minutes were possibly the most privileged I’ve had in the Cairngorms, spending this time photographing a mother deer and her fawn as they slowly traversed the forest in the evening light. As the doe shielded her fawn I tried to be as respectful as I could by using a long lens, keeping as much distance between the deer and I. 200mm, 1/160, f2.8, ISO500
