I'd wanted to photograph Michael Kiwanuka before I even owned a camera. When i finally got my opportunity at Leeds O2Academy 2022, years after that initial spark, it was none of my photos from the photo pit that i felt captured the atmosphere of the night, but this shot - taken at the very back of the venue. I was a little deflated with my shots from the photo pit - none of them had that feel from years ago i was chasing to close that poetic loop - Then the room went dark and a sole light lit Michael up and he started to play his song Solid Ground. It was one of the most beautiful moments of synergy I'd experienced at a gig and for me this image captures that memory perfectly and is also a personal testament to perseverance - The moment will find you eventually if you don't find it initially...
