Description

APU team member with his anti-poaching dog- a Belgian malinois and a just recently de-horned female rhino after a de-horning project in Manyoni- one of the private game reserves in South Africa. I was fortunate to follow the team from the start at 5 am in the morning to the finish when the mother (female in picture) and her calf were both dehorned. Although controversial, de-horning plays an important role at the moment in preventing poaching and the unnecessary killing .
